About
Floam World is the creation of Leilanni Todd, a creative director and digital artist working at the intersection of generative AI, 3D media, and surreal storytelling. Her work spans experimental film, fashion, art, and synthetic world-building—including Floam World, an ongoing floating universe formed in 2022, where humor, absurdity, and visual excess collide, and the sentient “Floam” rule all.
Floam World serves as a platform for Todd to explore themes like consumerism, beauty, identity, the female experience, and environmental impact–always layered with humor, absurdity, and satire. With years of experience as a creative director in the advertising industry—collaborating with leading agencies and global brands—she often weaves parody and commentary on consumerism into her work.
Todd also has an extensive background in fashion design, having worked for notable designers before launching her own ready-to-wear and swimwear line, LEILANNI—a foundational influence in her visual language. Her interdisciplinary practice expanded into digital fashion design and 3D animation, blending traditional techniques with emerging technologies. This progression into 3D worlds naturally led her to explore generative AI. In 2024, her short AI film Everyone is Chair premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York.
Her work has been featured in leading publications across the art, advertising, and fashion industries, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, The New York Times, Wired, Fast Company, and It’s Nice That. She has also earned accolades from major award shows such as Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, The Clios, The Effies, The Webbys, Ad Age, and Adweek.
She currently teaches at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as an adjunct professor, leading the “Generative AI for Virtual Production” Spring Semester 2025 course in the one-year Master of Professional Studies (MPS) program. The course is held at the Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center, a newly opened facility dedicated to the future of filmmaking and storytelling.
